Traitors S3: The Capricorns Topple (Ep 7-10)

Greetings fellow faithfuls, the night of truth is upon us!

Tonight is the Traitors US Season 3 finale & reunion, and I am SO excited to see Gabby Windey (Capricorn) take home the gold. Down with Danielle!!!

Before this, let’s get caught up on the astrological implications of the past 4 episodes and set the scene for the finale.

(Check out my last recap for an astrological analysis of the first 6 episodes)

Episode 7

Episode 7 opens with us learning that the Traitors (mostly Boston Rob) have decided to murder private investigator / former Big Brother cast member Derrick Levasseur (Aquarius).

Boston Rob immediately goes on the offensive at breakfast about how he’s ‘being framed’ (sounds like something someone who committed the crime would say!!!). And about half of the people in the room buy it - especially his top worshipper Dylan Efron - while the other half are like ‘you are extremely suspicious.’ But no time for that now, it’s time to touch bugs!!!

All the contestants are carted out to the middle of the woods where they are instructed to pair off and hold hands at marriage altars, and if they hold hands long enough they win money for the prize pot. Also, the pairs that hold hands longest win a shield! Easy!

The contestants pair off, a process that is VERY astrologically interesting. Boston Rob pairs with Ciara (both Capricorns), Gabby with Carolyn (both Capricorns), and Sam with Ivar (both Pisces). Like attracts like! Anyway, they get creepy crawlies dumped all over them, Chrishell continues to prove herself useless and withdraws her hand before the first harmless insect can touch it, etc. Round table time!

Traitors Danielle and Carolyn, along with a handful of faithfuls, rail HARD against Boston Rob, and their skin is really on the table. If Rob doesn’t get eliminated, things are going to be very awkward in the turret!

Fortunately, they manage to banish Boston Rob, and all rejoice when he announces he’s a traitor. First Capricorn down! Hallelujah!!!!

Episode 8

Later that night, all the faithfuls who did not manage to win a shield in that day’s challenge report one by one to a creepy chapel, where they are met by either Alan telling them they live to play another day, or by Traitors Carolyn and Danielle telling them that they’ve been murdered. This fate falls to Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause (Cancer), who is extremely sad and like “whyyyyy why me????” and it’s like… because you are literally completely useless in this game. I love Chrishell (mostly because she is a lesbian) but this game really made me side eye her. She’s just a girl!

The next day at breakfast, the faithfuls - led by Sam - decide to determine if there were any traitors among the batch sent to the chapel by asking people what Alan was wearing as they arrive to breakfast. This move is genius, because it completely implicates Carolyn, who stammers and stutters and can’t answer. However, Carolyn is Carolyn, and they remove their suspicion bc who knows what’s up w that girl anyway?

The next day’s challenge is really an all-timer in the Traitors Hall of Fame. Half the contestants are sent to a creepy cabin filled with fucked up dolls that either sing you a creepy lullaby or scream gibberish at you while spraying you with water. The other half stay back at the castle, awaiting a call from their brethren singing the creepy doll song into the phone. They then must remember this creepy doll song and run to another room to sing it into a vintage recording device. The device plays the recording in reverse, and they must identify the lullaby and run back to the phone to call back and give the answer to Alan. Sounds complex writing it all out, but the reality of it is PURE comedy.

We have Tom Sandoval trying to prove to America that he is a serious musician by learning and singing the doll songs better than anyone else, interspersed with ITMs where every single other contestant talks about how terrible he is at music. Incredible stuff. Anyway, they somehow get all the available money, and Summer House’s Ciara Miller (Capricorn) finds the shield! Fun for the whole family.

Unfortunately for Ciara, it’s now round table time, and she is on the chopping block. This whole thing is spearheaded by Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari, who is like, idk Ciara i just think you’re a traitor and if we don’t banish you tonight i’ll always wonder. And everyone else is like, yeah makes sense!

And this is how our second Capricorn domino topples. Ciara is banished, she tells everyone she’s a faithful, they all groan, and then it’s a sad bedtime for everyone except Carolyn and Danielle, who are already at each other’s throats and about to get MUCH worse.

end of ep 8

Alan comes to the turret to give our remaining two traitors a proposition - they can either murder as usual, or they can select one faithful to seduce and give the option of becoming a traitor. Danielle is immediately like “omg let’s add Britney” and Carolyn is like “do I look like a fucking idiot to you???!!!” They go back and forth with this for a while, Danielle doing her crying and shaking thing (did you guys know she’s 53???) and Carolyn being the smart Capricorn she is and being like, no!!!!

Ultimately Danielle gives in and they decide to murder Sam (Pisces). The men’s numbers are DWINDLING! Just how I like it!!

Carolyn-Danielle synastry

Carolyn and Danielle’s hatred of each other is a pivotal part of episode 9, so let’s do some synastry, shall we?

Danielle Reyes was born on January 22, 1972 in Dayton, Ohio. Carolyn Wiger was born on January 9, 1987 in North St. Paul, Minnesota. Both January babies, 15 years and one Sun sign apart.

That’s a lot of lines!

There’s a whole jumble of aspects in this synastry chart, so I’ll break it down. First, let’s look at their moon signs. Danielle is an Aries moon - a cardinal fire signs. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are the signs that start each season, and Aries specifically starts off the entire year. Aries is an action-oriented, impulsive, “me first” sign that doesn’t like to be hampered.

Carolyn, on the other hand, has a Taurus moon - a fixed earth sign. The fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) are STUBBORN. They have their feet firmly stood in their respective season, they know what they like, and the word compromise isn’t in their vocabulary. Paired with Taurus’ earthy, grounded nature, there is no moving these people.

So we have Danielle - a fixed Sun with a cardinal Moon - and Carolyn - a cardinal Sun and a fixed Moon. Unless they are completely aligned on their vision, they are not going to be able to work together… and clearly their visions and goals are NOT aligned.

The next aspect that catches my eye is that Carolyn’s Sun-Mercury conjunction in Capricorn makes a square (difficult aspect) to Danielle’s Mars (and potentially Moon depending on birth time) in Aries. This aspect indicates that they have strong differences that are almost impossible to overcome. When you see this aspect, it usually indicates that the Sun person (Carolyn) has a hard time coming to terms with their identity in the relationship, and the Mars person (Danielle) takes an aggressive stance in the relationship. As I’m sure anyone watching the show can attest, yep! Astrology is real!!!

Carolyn’s Capricorn Sun-Mercury conjunction also makes a square to Danielle’s Uranus in Libra. This aspect can feel really disappointing for the Sun person (Carolyn), who sees contradictions in Danielle’s character and feels that Danielle doesn’t appreciate the warmth of her Sun, her light, her identity. The chaos of Uranus leads this relationship to be unstable, and drastic changes can happen very quickly and without warning. The Sun partner (Carolyn) eventually learns that their partner lacks accuracy and thoroughness.

Carolyn’s Mars in Aries makes an opposition to Danielle’s Pluto in Libra, which are just scary words for me to write. There are power struggles and aggression baked into the fabric of these two’s relationship.

To add insult to injury, Carolyn’s Venus in Scorpio makes a square to Danielle’s Venus in Aquarius. Venus is the planet of love and beauty and sweetness and, in this case, compromise - but their Venus placements can’t communicate because of their strong differences. No chance at resolving all their other difficult aspects. I fear this pairing was doomed from the start (and I am once again wondering if Traitors production uses astrology to pick a group they know will have infighting).

tl;dr - they were doomed from the start!

Episode 9

During the next day’s challenge we learn that the previous night, after all of Danielle’s tears and Carolyn’s being a Capricorn, they were asked to assign superlatives to the remaining players. Things like ‘Biggest Snake,’ ‘Pack Leader’ etc. In potentially her worst move ever, Carolyn ascribes the title ‘Most Unheard Voice’ to herself, and gets REALLY vocal about it definitely being her during the challenge. When she ends up being right, people are like um - how did she know that? And with that she is, as the kids say, cooked.

At the round table that night, it’s the ultimate Carolyn vs. Danielle showdown. They get in a huge argument and they each plead their case, but ultimately the group decides that Carolyn won the argument and she is banished. She announces to the group that she’s a traitor, and everyone is a) overjoyed and b) SHOCKED. Honestly, without the chess superlative and Danielle railing so hard against her, she might have made it to the very end! People are very quick to praise Danielle (who is shaking and quivering and hyperventilating on the floor for some reason), but our princess Gaggy (Capricorn, naturally) has sussed out that it seemed very much like the Boston Rob vs. Bob the Drag Queen ‘traitor on traitor violence’ from earlier in the season. Get her Gaggy!!!!!!

end of ep 9

Alan joins Danielle alone in the turret that night to tell her that she must now issue an ultimatum to one faithful - join her, or die. She, naturally, chooses to give this offer to Britney, who accepts after telling the audience in an ITM that she thinks this is incredibly stupid and obvious. And so Danielle FINALLY gets her beloved Britney up in the turret with her. Will they kiss?! Let’s see the chart!

Danielle-Britney Synastry

Britney Reyes was born on August 23, 1987, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She is a Virgo Sun with a Leo Moon, and has a much more favorable aspect pattern with Danielle than Caroline did. Look at this gorgeous blue grand trine!

Unlike Carolyn, Britney’s Leo Moon is very compatible with Danielle’s Aries Moon - they are both fire signs, and as such make a helpful trine, indicating these people are well-matched on an innate level. Danielle’s Moon (depending on birth time) and Mars in Aries also make a trine to Britney’s Uranus in Sagittarius, which is a favorable aspect.

Danielle’s Venus in Pisces makes an exact trine to Britney’s Pluto in Scorpio, which is a very powerful and favorable aspect. Venus - planet of love, beauty, and sweetness - teams up with Pluto the Transformer/Destroyer to help Pluto discover the power of love and the light at the bottom of his deep well.

Britney’s Sun-Venus conjunction at 0 degrees Virgo (VERY interesting placement - would love to do an analysis specifically on Britney’s chart and life) makes a non-sign based trine to Danielle’s Jupiter at the end of Sagittarius. Another helpful aspect, this usually creates a dynamic where the Jupiter partner (Danielle) can lead and guide the Sun partner (Britney) with the kind of leadership that creates mutual respect and trust. Sounds like the perfect traitors dynamic! We’ll see how much longer it holds up - I have a feeling Danielle is going to get found out VERY soon. Though I have a feeling Britney will do just fine without Danielle’s leadership…

Finally, I want to call attention to a very interesting (and difficult) aspect - Britney’s Sun-Venus conjunction at the first degree of Virgo making an exact square to Danielle’s Saturn at the last degree of Taurus. Saturn is karma, and a Sun-Saturn square indicates a karmic relationship where the partners have a hard time overcoming their past history. Which is more than a little crazy, given that the whole foundation of this duo is that Britney fucked Danielle over by eliminating her from their season of Big Brother. This placement indicates that Britney has chosen to be in this alliance specifically to overcome the karma of their past. She provides hope and optimism, but Danielle must also reckon with the Earthly reality that this person has not been an ally to her in the past. Excited to see how this story ends! Get the popcorn!

Episode 10

All this brings us to the penultimate episode of the season, which starts with us learning that THE WITCH OF THE WEST IS DEAD! The wickedest witch there ever was, the enemy of all of us here in Oz, is deeeAAAAAADDDD!

Ahem - that’s right, Tom Sandoval has FINALLY BEEN MURDERED! How it took this long, no one knows! Goodbye, cheating scum!!! As Alan said before carelessly tossing Tom’s picture to the floor of the breakfast room, “the one time he’s ever been faithful.”

As conversations start, it’s clear that Danielle and Britney are preying on Dylan’s long-standing skepticism of Gabby to try to frame her as a traitor. Side note, I really hope Dylan Efron is into guys, because a) HUGE win for the gays but mostly b) he will NEVER be able to trust a woman again after what Carolyn and Danielle put him through in this game.

Alan announces that one player is getting ‘The Power of the Seer’ - the ability to ask any player in the game whether they’re a traitor or a faithful. To win that power, you need to earn the most money in the day’s challenge. Danielle becomes very openly OBSESSED with gaining this power to protect herself and Britney, which causes the faithfuls to turn their suspicion on her - with the exception of Dolores, who trusts Danielle to the end and seems to mostly just hate men (I get it!!).

We get to the round table and, for whatever reason, everyone forgets that they’re supposed to be suspicious of Gabby. The vote comes down to Danielle and, at Dolores’ urging, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, who is just very clearly not a traitor. They do one round of voting and it comes out a tie. They let both Danielle and Ivar plead their case (during which time Danielle, crying, BEGS Dylan to change his vote to Ivar, and he’s like um you are being very sus rn gf no way), and then they vote again. No one changes their vote, it’s another tie.

And here the episode ends, with a promise that at the beginning of tonight’s finale, we will see fate decide whether Ivar or Danielle is banished from the castle. And then we will learn who won the power of the seer! A cliffhanger for the ages! I really hope it’s Danielle!

pre-finale standings

Alright, let’s look at some stats!

Though we banished 3 Capricorns in a row, our two remaining capricorns (Gabby and Dolores) are still holding down the fort for the faithfuls. Interestingly, we have representation for everything but fire signs here - cardinal earth (Capricorn), fixed air (Aquarius), and mutable water (Pisces). These signs also happen to be sequential on the zodiacal wheel - the full season of winter. The remaining faithfuls don’t have any placements in common, though all but Ivar have multiple Capricorn placements in their big 6 (also, who knows what their rising signs are). If Ivar is eliminated at the top of ep 11, we will have a Capricorn vs. traitors showdown!

All I have left to say is - LET’S GO FAITHFULS LET’S GO GAGGY LET’S GO LESBIANS!!! BRING IT HOME TO US PRINCESS!!!!!

XOXOXOX,

Jesse
